OUR CONSERVATION MOVEMENT
Founded in 1953, PIKE COUNTY CONSERVATION DISRICT is a locally led organization that assists the community in addressing all natural resource concerns in Pike County. We are made up of seven supervisors and are nonprofit. Our goal is to protect natural resources and improve our soil and water quality in partnership with farmers, landowners, foresters, and wildlife enthusiast, by providing conservation programs.

VOLUNTEERING
Our work is never done, and we can use all the help we can get. One of the ways you can take part is by Volunteering. Spread the word about all that PIKE COUNTY CONST DIST is doing, and help us gain the support we need.
RECYCLE
Properly disposing of old appliances improves our water quality and the effects on the environmental and economic health of our county.

SEED SWAP
Seed Swap is held the first Saturday in April every year at Pike Central High School
A 2024 dates are announced Pike County residents only. Must show drivers license. October 7 at Robinson Creek Road Lot, October 8th at Belcher Road Lot, October 9th at Phelps Road Lot, October 10th at Johns Creek Recycling Center, October 11th at Belfry Road Lot. 9am to 3pm
Items accepted are stoves, dishwashers, refrigerator, deep freezers, air condition, hot water tanks, washers, dryers, heat pumps
15.00 Large items, 7.50 medium items and 5.00 small items

PIKE COUNTY CAIP
Applications for 2024 will be accepted until August 30th Producer meeting will be August 29th at 6pm at the Conservation District Office located at 115 Zebulon Heights, Pikeville. This meeting is to answer questions and help fill out applications
ART & WRITNG CONTEST
Each fall we distribute tabloids to all the schools for the Art and Writing Contest. K-5 students participate in the Art portion and 6-12 students participate in the Writing portion. Awards are given out in April at the banquet.
COUNTY COST SHARE
Assist landowners in addressing conservation needs. This program is a 50/50 match with a max of $500.00 for lime and fertilizer, pasture and hayland planting, Backyard Conservation includes pollinator gardens fruit trees, bat houses, rain barrels and compost bins. For beekeeping 50/50 match with a max of $500.00 for equipment: smokers, honey extractors, queen markers, queen excluders, suits, gloves, medications,, wooden ware, foundations, polystyrene hives, seeds (clovers, buckwheat, others), electric fence to keep out bears, feeds (sugar, pollen substitute. AGRICULTURE WATER QUALITY ACT
The goal of the Ag Water Quality Act is to protect surface and groundwater resources from pollution as a result of agriculture and silviculture activities Website to create your plan is under the tab
TREE SEEDLING GIVEAWAY
Every Spring the Conservation District gives away free tree seedlings to Pike County residents. Varieties vary each year.
